I hope that Filipinos should not generalize Hongkongers as a whole. My friends said a lot does not agree scrapping Filipino Visa upon entry privileges, it is just that the CY Leung’s (HK Chief Executive) government public opinion and approval rating is very low and Pro Beijing politicians are using this to divert the issue.

I agree with you on this. A number of Filipinos staying there have stated very much what you’ve just said. I’ve been to Hong Kong last year and I did not get even a whiff of any hostility against Filipinos. My uncle and aunt, who are very much Filipinos, are happy working there. It’s just that selfish politician Leung trying to instigate us into showing how “bad" we Filipinos are, so that he could win mainland China’s support and stay in power. The same could be said about what happened in Taiwan regarding the coast guard issue. It was only a very unpopular politician who is also a Beijing bootlicker. My friend in Taiwan has proven that most Taiwanese didn’t even give that “controversy" a second glance. Most people in Hong Kong are sick and tired of this issue and are angry at Leung for making them look like they hate Filipinos. So to my fellow Filipinos, be careful of reacting, or else you’ll just play into Leung and mainland China’s hands. 」
